    Service Creek to Clarno portion is a type II portion of whitewater on John Day River. It may be said that this section of John Day River is a place for learner paddling. Don't fail to remember to check current conditions prior to
 departure paddling to guarantee your safety. Heidtmann Canyon is a pleasant site to visit near Service Creek, and do explore Service Creek if you're here at Service Creek. All year is a perfect time in the Blue Mountains if you love the outdoors. A trip to John Day Fossil Beds National Monument is worthwhile; Donnelly Basin is a perfect spot here at Service Creek. This campground is a tremendous spot to explore. An afternoon playing golf at Kinzua Hills Golf Club is always a joy, and you can spot Muleshoe Mountain from Service Creek. Lots of folks from Spray come to Service Creek, and places like Cline Falls State Park are nice to go to. Don't you try to stop me, cause I'm havin' a nice  
time here at Service Creek. Service Creek is regularly a relatively dehydrated site. Most of the rain falls during November; the driest month of the year is July.
