Some folks stay at Rainy Lake for the purpose of being in the vicinity of Starvation
 
    Creek State Park. Rainy Lake is to be found in the Central Cascade Range. There's more to do close to Rainy Lake other than just hanging out such as fishing, playing golf, hiking, whitewater paddling, and swimming, so getting bored

A delightful 7.4-mile-long pretty hiking and backpacking trail boasting
 
an altitude variation of 3,514 feet is to be found close at hand; this is the Herman Creek Trail. Herman Creek Trail is a hard one and a half days of trekking.
