 15 slopes that cover the close by ski area Big Squaw are lots of fun; these slopes get an average of 15 feet of ice cold snow annually. Big Squaw has a great 1,750-foot drop from top to bottom, and has 4 different ski lifts. Big Squaw is a great ski area, everybody likes it. 67% of the slopes are green and blue and suited for children and beginners. The rest of the 400 acres of skiing land, 33%, consists of tough slopes. In case you enjoy whitewater, there is the Ripogenus Gorge to Debsconeag section, a grade III-V whitewater segment on Penobscot River - West Branch, 17 miles long. This segment of Penobscot River - West Branch is not a site where novices should come whitewater kayaking and  
rafting. Check current conditions before you go on the whitewater, or else it's not safe and sound. Taking a little tour to close by Caribou Point is a great idea; hiking along the Big Spencer Mountain Trail is nice fun.
