There's a glorious category II-III sweep of whitewater nearby on Mattole River, the 27.2-mile-from-start-to-finish Shelter Cove Road to Honeydew sector. This sweep of Mattole River is well suited for raft paddlers who have been kayak paddling for some time but who are not yet set for the really perilous rapids. Always check restrictions ahead of going kayak paddling as kayak paddling is a perilous endeavor. If by chance you like backcountry trekking, you will like a close by great outdoors
 
trail in possession of a great 1,399-foot variation in altitude, 2.2 miles from beginning to end. We're speaking about the Lightning Trail.
