AMENITIES
Tent camping is available - We have three Class D sites set up specifically for tents, one RV site with a tent pad attached, and tents can be set up on any of the other RV sites as well. RV hookups are available - 4 Class A Hookups (50amp and water) and 22 Class B Hookups (30amp and water) RV hookups - All of our RV sites have water and electric hookups and there is a dump station near our Visitor Information Center that is free for campers to use. Pets are allowed - Dogs must be on a leash at all times. Campfires are allowed - Fires must be located in a fire ring. Each campsite has its own fire ring as well as a charcoal grill. Picnic sites include Charcoal grills. Firewood is available for purchase at our Visitor Information Center. Has Store - Located in the Visitor Information Center. Includes gifts, picnicking supplies, and snacks. Vending machines are also located near the Visitor Information Center. Grocery store nearby - Food Giant is located on Highway 1 in Harrisburg, approximately 5 miles from the park. No pool No Game Room Showers - A four unit bath house is located in the campground. No laundry facilities Restaurant(s) nearby - Restaurants are located in Harrisburg, approximately 5 miles from the park. They include Witt's End Diner, Betty's Kountry Café, Iguanas (Mexican), Subway, and Sonic. Nearby attractions - There are 4 other state parks nearby including Parkin Archeological State Park, Village Creek State Park, Lake Frierson State Park, and Crowley's Ridge State Park. We are only 15 miles south of Jonesboro where you can check out the Crowley's Ridge Nature Center and just south of Harrisburg is the Parker Homestead. Fishing - Crappie, Bream, Bass, and Catfish abound on our lake. Boating - Lake Poinsett is a manmade lake and is relatively shallow. Stumps abound and make for great fishing. We do not recommend this lake for skiers, tubers, or jet skis. Activities for kids - Weekends from March through November all kinds of family oriented programs are presented by our park interpreter including nature programs, history programs, games, guided kayak tours, and workshops.
