We invite you to take advantage of our spectacular view of the sun rising over the lake each morning. It is a sight to behold, with no two alike. We are the last residence on the
| north end of Lake Panasoffkee, providing a gateway to some of the most beautiful foliage and wildlife that includes alligators, otters, deer, wild boar, wild turkeys, hawks, owls, white pelicans and an occasional bald eagle. Directly across the lake from our property is the Lake Panasoffkee Preserve, a densley wooded, protected area where hikers, bird watchers and naturalists can spend an entire day just enjoying nature at it's best.

fishermen come from all over the country to fish here, the lake is not limited to bass. You can catch your fill of shellcracker, bluegill, crappie/specs, catfish, brim, pan fish, stumpknockers, and bowfin. The sleepy little town of Lake Panasoffkee winds itself along the 7 mile,
west shoreline of the lake and hosts a grocery store, hardware store, post office, bait shops, gas stations and several local restaurants for your convenience. Life here is very laid back and the people are the friendliest you will ever meet.
Our climate can be quite dry
from October thru May. June and July is when we get the most rain. Through the lazy days of summer our temperatures mostly get into the 90's, with nighttime temps sliding into the 70's. High's in the winter ordinarily stay in the 60-70 degree range with nighttime lows in the 45-60
range.
Our convenient Central Florida location places you within an hour's drive to the Busch Gardens, Disney World and Sea World and several golf courses and beaches. Just 35 miles to our north is the beautiful Ocala horse country where you can take a glass bottom boat
ride in Silver Springs State Park or swim with the manatees in Rainbow Springs. We are just 15 miles from Inverness, the central access point of the Withalacoochee State Trail & Forest. Nearby Fort Cooper State Park, Homosassa Springs State Wildlife Preserve, Croom Wildlife Management
Area, Crystal River State Archealogical Site, Yulee Sugar Mill Ruins State Historic Site, Cedar Key State Preserve & Museum, Dade Battlefield and Fort Armstrong Historical Monument make it virtually impossible to run out of things to do. This amazing choice of attractions will
keep you from the possibility of getting bored.

You definitely have to go to Fort Cooper State Park since you're here at Idlewild Lodge, and since you're here, do take a tour to Shell Point.
You're sure to come across some great people from Lake Panasoffkee here, and not far from Idlewild Lodge you'll stumble on Princess Lake which is a picturesque lake. Through the summertime at Idlewild Lodge temperatures are generally in the 90's while overnight lows are usually
in the 70's. Through the winter the highs are generally in the 60's with temperatures at Idlewild Lodge dipping down into the 40's throughout winter nights. The high level of rainfall makes Idlewild Lodge a relatively wet location; July is when you get the most rain here while
October is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
This campground has so much exciting stuff to offer. Dade Battlefield Memorial State Park is a magnificent place to pop by on a gorgeous day, and hey, Little Jones Creek is a splendid local stream.
