Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always go to close by Appalachian Ski Mountain Lake, and there's whitewater on Boone Fork for all you adrenaline junkies.

This is truly a great campground. New River State Park is a magnificent place to go to, and why not stop at Boone Water Supply Dam while you're here. Lots of rain
falls at Camp Sky Ranch; most of the rain falls through May, and December is when it's the driest.
North Carolina is a glorious place for outdoors folks. All the outdoors cool things in the Blue Ridge Mountains will keep you coming back time and again. Really splendid skiing
awaits you at Appalachian Mountain, and the Yancey Ridge Trail is a brilliant hiking trail nearby. Camp Sky Ranch is a campground reasonably often visited by the residents of Boone.
This campground is so scenic. A great site for whitewater paddling close to Camp Sky Ranch is
Thunderhole Creek; a round of golf at nearby Boone Golf Club is a good way to kill some time. Yeah, come up here to the Blue Ridge Mountains for a good time. You're sure to come across some nice people from Boone here; on a great day you can take a hike along the Daniel Boone Scout Trail.
