 here such as playing golf, swimming, whitewater paddling, fishing, and hiking, so it's just not possible to get bored. Near Hidden Springs Campground is a tremendous 6.5-mile-from-start-to-finish run of whitewater on Penobscot River - West Branch, a class III-IV, this is the Quackish Dam to Shad Pond portion. In general this run of Penobscot River - West Branch is an exciting spot for whitewater kayaking or rafting. Naturally, whitewater kayaking or rafting is  
    fun but perilous; check circumstances prior to departure. Ledge Cut Brook flows through this region, and the Lake Trail offers hiking at its best. There's some attention-grabbing stuff to distinguish at Quakish Dam in the vicinity
  of Hidden Springs Campground. There's great hiking along the Ragged Mountain Trail, and lots of people from Millinocket come here. Good hiking is available along the Sandbank Trail, and a day of fishing at New England Outdoor Center is always a fine idea. There are fine sites to explore along the Gray Ledge Dam Trail, and loosen up with a splendid game of mini golf at nearby Magic City Mini Golf.
