Chinook Lodge & Smoke House, San Juan and Jemez Mountains, Colorado Custom Search   Chinook Lodge & Smokehouse is a 100 year old property that has 10 cabins, 19 rv sites and a smokehouse/sandwich shop. We are located in the heart of the San Juan mtns. So if you are an outdoor enthusiasts, this is the place for you. Go for a hike on the Lake Fork National Recreation Trail, and a good spot to go to close by is Poison Gulch. All the fine local attractions in the vicinity and the nearby outdoors recreation are perfect reasons to come. With so much to do in Colorado you'll never get bored. You simply must adore the San Juan and     Jemez Mountains. Nearby lakes? Sure, Million Reservoir is near Chinook Lodge & Smoke House; let's not forget Beaver Creek which is a stream that you may run into while here. The kind reception and the nice facilities are pretty striking. The high level of precipitation makes Chinook Lodge & Smoke House a pretty wet site; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most snow, and June on the other hand is the driest. This campground is so good. The Highline Trail offers hiking at its best, and Mill Creek Dam is lovely. You need to get out of the house, and Chinook Lodge & Smoke House, Colorado is a brilliant place for getting out. During the summertime at Chinook Lodge & Smoke House highs are typically in the 60's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the   30's with temperatures at Chinook Lodge & Smoke House dipping down into the 0's during winter nights. There is so much fun stuff next to Chinook Lodge & Smoke House, and to be here is brilliant fun any time. If you come at the right time of year, Wolf Creek offers some good whitewater; if you're here you will meet lots of folks from nearby South Fork. And if that's not enough, there's a heap more to do close to Chinook Lodge & Smoke House. Good hiking is available along the Hot Creek Stock Driveway, and everybody close by loves skiing at Wolf Creek. These mountains rock, just explore all the cool stuff to do in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Chinook Lodge & Smoke House; Silver Creek Trail is a brilliant local trail, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Rio Grande. This is such a good campground. Don't leave Chinook Lodge & Smoke House without first going for a hike along the Wolf Creek Stock Driveway, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend San Juan River - East Fork. Chinook Lodge & Smoke House is a splendid camp ground to use as a base while enjoying the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Some activities here at Chinook Lodge & Smoke House are fishing, hiking, whitewater paddling, and swimming, so running out of entertaining stuff to do won’t happen.
