| the winter highs are in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Mountain State Campground. Lots of precipitation falls at Mountain State Campground; through the month of July you get the most rain around here, and February is the month with the least moisture.
You can run the rapids of Mill Creek - New River Tributary close to Mountain State Campground; visiting Bluestone National Scenic River is just something you need to do if you haven't yet. Really great skiing awaits you at Winterplace. A campground like this is too great to miss. | |

is New River, and Hawks Nest State Park is a tremendous place to go to. For you golfers we recommend nearby Bridge Haven Golf Club, and do stop by Hawk Lake, it's a stunning lake. This campground is so great. There is a wonderful hiking trail in close proximity to Mountain State Campground called the Carnifex Trail, and close by you discover Long Point.
