Sky Island Retreat and Campground gets a large amount of water; March is the month that gets the most rain, and December on the other hand is the driest. So much entertaining stuff to do here in the Blue Ridge Mountains, too wonderful to be true. If time allows, Blue Ridge Parkway is a national park worth a visit; Padgett Cove is also a tremendous site to discover. During the months of summer highs here at Sky Island Retreat and Campground get into the 80's with nighttime lows in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and after the sun   is down during the winter temperatures at Sky Island Retreat and Campground descend into the 10's. Some close by water includes Guthrie Branch, and get covered with water paddling on Curtis Creek. This is such a brilliant campground. People from Old Fort love to come to Sky Island Retreat and Campground; get yourself into a kayak and hit Catawba River. This is such a beautiful campground. Be careful coming to Sky Island Retreat and Campground, you might not ever want to return home again. If you're a golfer then a tremendous close by course is Old Fort Golf Course, and Mount Mitchell State Park is a brilliant location to stretch your legs a bit. All year is a brilliant time in the Blue Ridge Mountains if you have a thing about the outdoors. The Bald Mountain Trail is a fine hiking trail close to Sky Island Retreat and Campground, and there are some magnificent whitewater spots on Rocky Broad River.
