Abernathy Peak is picturesque and can be distinguished from South Creek Campground; going for a hike along the Driveway Butte Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region. At South Creek Campground you always meet someone from Stehekin, and if the weather is magnificent, you can go for a hike along the West Fork Methow Trail. The surroundings of this campground have such a large number of things to offer. Stehekin River is a delightful whitewater spot close to South Creek Campground, and a visit to Pearrygin Lake State Park is a good idea. High temperatures at South Creek Campground through the long summer days are in the 80's while night lows are ordinarily in the 50's. High temperatures all through the winter are normally in the 30's, and after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at South Creek Campground dip into the 20's.
