 it was well worth the effort getting here. The Hell's Crossing to American Forks section is a magnificent 4.7-mile-long type III-IV stretch of whitewater on American River. This stretch of American River is recommended for paddlers of medium practice. You should check restrictions in advance of a trip; whitewater rafting and kayaking may become hazardous. A picturesque backcountry trail in close proximity is Goat Creek Trail; it's 8 miles long and has a height difference of 3,879 feet. A challenging backcountry trail it is; Goat Creek Trail necessitates roughly speaking one and a half days to backcountry walk.
