Cougar Flat Campground is a wet place that gets a good deal of rain; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain, and July is the month with the least moisture. Iron Horse State Park is a magnificent location, and what would winter be without some skiing at Crystal Mountain. There are so many exciting things close to Cougar Flat Campground, and what a tremendous site for camping it is. This is a splendid campground. You can run the rapids of Bumping River close to Cougar Flat Campground, and locations like Lake Easton State Park are good to have a look at. While you're here at Cougar Flat Campground you can take a hike along the Goose Prairie Trail; American River is a magnificent whitewater spot nearby. Hiking along the Fifes Ridge Trail is tremendous fun; it's a wonderful idea to stop by Goat Creek.
