Loft Mountain Campgrounds, Blue Ridge Mountains, Virginia Custom Search   This was a beautiful remote campground.  We had stayed at Big Meadow before and this was a very different experience.  The sites were not as close together and it was more rolling terrain versus flat meadow. We took out 7 and 9 year old boys for a 10 day camping excursion and this was our first 2 night stop.  We did not realize that it was first come first serve and were pleasantly surprised that we had many great sites to choose from in mid July.  It       was a weekday which likely helped.  The sites are large and wooded. Some shaded, some not.. There are bears and we saw them, along with deer and other wildlife.  Best to keep ALL food in the car. There were wild berries we enjoyed   munching and the Appalachian Trail runs right into the sight which is great. The bathrooms were clean and close enough to walk.  We were glad we had our bikes with us and enjoyed riding the campground with the boys.  They made some great friends too. The Host of the campground was great and always available.  Campstore had wood and just keep in mind that the showers are pay.  There was a money changer.  Overall and GREAT campground near many wonderful sights       in the Shenandoah.
