Beaver Creek Campground, Black Hills, South Dakota

Stayed at this campground for four days in July, 2011. One of the prettiest we have stayed at. If possible, get site 1, which has the creek running right next to it, and is close, but not too close, to the vault toilet and single water pump. The single, unisex vault toilet is modern, clean, and well vented. Don't worry about the multitude of insects flying around that look like yellow jacket wasps; they are harmless mimics. There also were a lot

of flies, but they didn't bite. Recommend a screen house. The nights were chilly, but beautiful weather and scenery during the day. It's about the ten or fifteen minute ride on a generally well-kept dirt road (~40 mph) from the main
highway, 85, to the campgrounds. Early in the week, we had only one other campsite occupied each day; at end of week, more crowded, but the sites are far enough apart, especially Site 1, that it wasn't a problem. The photo shows Site 1 and its proximity to the toilet and water pump. Says Bill (see picture)

Getting to this primitive campground can be a little tough, but it's well worth it. At this primitive campground you can get a more excellent wilderness

experience than you would get at a more civilized campground. This is a primitive camp ground which unsurprisingly means that there are not many services. It is really pretty here at this primitive campground. With so many things
to do in South Dakota you'll never get bored. The Black Hills scenery is always picturesque.
There is so much entertaining stuff to do in the vicinity of Beaver Creek Campground, and spending time at this campground is incredibly fun.
As if Beaver Creek Campground wasn't sufficient, you can also go swimming, whitewater paddling, playing golf, hiking, and fishing, so you won’t run out of things to do.
