  trekking is coming for you along the Cottonwood Creek Trail. A magnificent 3.6-mile-long backpacking and hiking trail featuring a magnificent 671-foot height variation is to be found close at hand. This is the Howard Cutoff Trail; it's a stunning backcountry walk. On a good day at Kirkland Campground you can take a hike along the Indian Tom Trail, and a nice spot like Fields Spring State Park is too nice to leave out.
