If you come at the right time of year, Grande Ronde River offers some pleasant whitewater, and don't leave Elk Campground without first going for a hike along the Summit Mount Emily Trail. Elk Campground is a fine camp ground to use as a base while enjoying the Blue Mountains. |

The surroundings of this campground have so much stuff to offer. There are some great whitewater spots on Grande Ronde River, and lots of folks from La Grande come here. This campground is so tremendous. Red Bridge State Park is both magnificent and pretty, and it's close to Elk
| Campground, and fine hiking is available along the Hale Spring Trail. Hey, it's been too long since you went outside, time to go camping, and Elk Campground in Oregon is a great pick. You truly have to like the Blue Mountains. There's some flowing water nearby, Thomas Creek is a stream you can have a look at while you're here, and there are splendid sites to look at along the North Fork Trail. Lakes?
