Bighorn Campground, Central Cascade Range, Oregon

Have you been to the Bighorn campground site???While this is a beautiful pack-in, primitive site, it doesn't fit with your description. Before camping, take a hike on Nat. Forest Trail 742, without gear. After you've scoped the area, come back and stay. Even on Labor Day Weekend ('06) there were several campsites available in this dispersed camp area. Says Jim-in-Brightwood

The natural prettiness at this primitive campground is tremendous, and unsurprisingly

it could be hard to get to a primitive campground such as Bighorn Campground, but it's worth the effort. Bighorn Campground is incredibly popular with the people of Welches.
All the splendid local attractions close at hand and
such a splendid variety of outdoors recreation are good reasons to come.
Amenities and facilities are few in primitive campgrounds like this one, and primitive campgrounds like these is a good way to get out in the wilderness.
Bighorn Campground is one of the sites to camp here in the Central Cascade Range. Several people stay here in order to be right next door to Mount Hood National Forest. As if Bighorn Campground wasn't enough, you can also go fishing,

whitewater paddling, hiking, swimming, and playing golf, so you won’t run out of things to do.
With so many things to do in Oregon you'll never get bored. Ok, you've been cooped up too long; Bighorn Campground in Oregon is the
outdoors at its finest. You find the 3.2-mile-from-beginning-to-end Tollgate to Sandy River sector of Zigzag River close by; this is a category III-IV whitewater section. If by chance you don’t want to risk getting dripping wet this section of Zigzag River is possibly not for you. Always check the latest conditions in advance of a trip kayak paddling because kayak paddling is a dangerous pursuit.
