Do have a look at Ohrback Lake right next door to Kaufman Campgrounds, it's a stunning lake; if you have time, Gateway National Recreation Area is a national park worth visiting. If you want to hit the beach, New Dorp Beach is in close proximity; don't leave without popping by Riverbank State Park. Some folks select this campground for the purpose of being in the vicinity of New Dorp Beach.

that you don't mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Rockaway River. The high level of rain makes Kaufman Campgrounds a rather wet place; most of the rain falls throughout May, and February is the month with the least moisture.
All the wonderful local attractions
in the neighborhood and the close by outdoors recreation are good causes to come. A great sight of pretty Todt Hill is available from Kaufman Campgrounds, and on a great day it's a brilliant idea to spend the day at Oakwood Beach.
