Woods Valley gets blanketed by an average of 15 feet of great snow every winter.   Nearby there is a splendid 7-mile-from-beginning-to-end type II-III whitewater stretch, the West Branch to Hillside portion of Mohawk River. The West Branch to Hillside portion of Mohawk River is recommended for raft paddlers of medium skill. Naturally, whitewater kayaking and rafting is exciting but hazardous; check restrictions before you go.
