  This is truly a nice campground. The Perchas Trail offers hiking at its best, and do take a hike on the Los Pinos Trail. So many local attractions and all the outdoors recreation will absolutely have you coming back over and over.
When you're here at Rio las Vacas Campground it's always fun to pop by Fenton Lake State Park, and there's whitewater on Rio Chama for all you adrenaline people. This campground is so gorgeous. While staying at Rio las Vacas Campground you could always look at Windy Canyon, and Deer Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop
    at. Rio las Vacas Campground is mostly a relatively dry place; through August this area sees the most rain; April is the month with the least moisture.

And if that's not enough there's a load more amusing stuff to do in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. There's pleasant hiking along the Palomas Trail; there are some magnificent whitewater spots on Jemez River. Some people stay at this campground for the purpose of being next to Fenton Lake State Park.
Hiking along the Penas Negras Trail is nice fun, and there's some flowing water close by, Clear Creek is a stream you can stop by while you're here.
There's more to do right next door to Rio las Vacas Campground other than just hanging out such as swimming, whitewater paddling, hiking, and fishing, so running out of exciting things to do won’t happen.
