  your capability. Whitewater rapids are dangerous things, so you should check restrictions before heading out. Skiing at Taos is one of those things you just ought to do; Alamo Canyon is a nice site to check out. So much amusing stuff to do in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, not enough time.
