  At Las Petacas Campground exciting stuff to do is bountiful, and it's always fun to be at this campground. The magnificent variety of local attractions and the magnificent variety of outdoors recreation will make you glad you came.
Near Las Petacas Campground you locate the Kit Carson Trail which is a good hiking trail; folks from Taos Ski Valley love to come here. We all need to go camping for a couple of days now and then, and Las Petacas Campground in New Mexico is such a fine place. Las Petacas Campground is a campground relatively often visited

What a spot this is for outdoors folks. Since you're here at Las Petacas Campground why not stop at Cortado Canyon; if you come at the right time of year, Red River offers some tremendous whitewater. The snow is great at Sipapu Ski; there
are magnificent sites to look at along the North End Trail.
Las Petacas Campground is regularly a quite waterless place; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain while January is usually the driest month. Glide down the rapids of Rio Grande in a kayak; the Simpson Memorial Trail is a good hiking trail close by.
Get drenched paddling on Rio Pueblo de Taos, and if the weather is magnificent, you can go for a hike along the Devisadero Peak Loop Trail. If you come to this campground, you will have a wonderful time for sure. A
 
lake nearby is Talpa Reservoir; if the weather is pretty, you acquire a good view of Devisadero Peak from Las Petacas Campground.
Cimarron Canyon State Park is a delightful place. This campground has everything. Coyote Creek State Park is a good location to check out, and going for a hike on the Burnt Ridge Trail is always a great adventure. A visit to New Mexico is not complete without some camping.
There's more to do in the vicinity of Las Petacas Campground other than just hanging out such as hiking, whitewater paddling, swimming, and fishing, so running out of cool stuff to do won’t happen. All through the warm days of summer, highs mostly are in the 80's at Las Petacas Campground. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 40's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Las Petacas Campground descend into the 0's.
