the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Now, you may feel that's a lot but there's even more fun stuff to do here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. You can never get enough of the nice skiing at
Taos, and a great location for whitewater paddling is Red River. It's out of the question to run out of fun stuff to do in close proximity to La Junta Campground; when you have spent some time here you will feel like a new person. Going for a hike on the Twining Blue Lake Trail is always a pleasant adventure, and get your heart beating on the nice whitewater of Rio Grande.
