In New Mexico you never run out of outdoors entertaining stuff. Getting to this primitive campground may be rather tough, but it's well worth it. The San Juan and Jemez Mountains scenery is always pretty. Rio Chama has a type I-II part of whitewater nearby. | |

The 25-mile-from-beginning-to-end Abiquiu Dam to confluence with Rio Grande section is delightful to run. This part of Rio Chama is suggested for novice whitewater paddlers. Whitewater boating may become perilous, so check the situation

prior to departure. El Vado Lake State Park is a delightful site to stretch your legs a bit; Pajarito Mountain is a very popular ski area in the neighborhood. That right there is a lot of amusing things already but it goes on, the San Juan and Jemez Mountains has it all. Echo Amphitheater is a beautiful location any time of year, and the good folks of Youngsville like to hang out close by.
