There is a brilliant hiking trail close to Eagle Rock Campground called the Simpson Memorial Trail; you need to explore Eagle Rock since you're here. Don't forget to take a great little spree to Cabresto Creek; hey, Gotta ski right? Taos is a great place to do that. At Eagle Rock Campground throughout the warm months highs are in the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 40's. Through the winter     this place gets highs in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Eagle Rock Campground are in the 0's. Going for a hike on the Burnt Ridge Trail is always a glorious adventure, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always go to nearby Eagle Rock Lake. You beyond doubt should go to Cimarron Canyon State Park while you're here at Eagle Rock Campground. The Sangre De Cristo Mountains scenery is always pretty. Coming to this campground is always a delightful idea. Get your heart pumping on the great whitewater of Red River, and on a delightful day you can take a hike along the Lost Lake Trail.
