Jigger Johnson Campground 1, White Mountains, New Hampshire

| | My husband, daughter and I recently spent a night at Jigger Johnson Campground while we were hiking in the White mountains. The tent site we chose was cozy, comfortable and clean, and best of all, the place had showers: individual sheds w/spacious shower rooms, separate tiled dressing rooms with hooks and a chair to keep clothes dry. At six minutes for $2.00, water was hot, w/nice pressure. Altogether, as satisfying an experience as possible for two citified ladies and more than adequate for a dad who bicycles to work, backpacks in the wilderness & |

does not consider car camping roughing it. He only looks for flush toilets (which this spot also has, very clean, too) and other amenities when we are along. To him, facilities here luxurious.It was more peaceful than Dollycopp (sp) which is much larger & often hosts (albeit unintentionally)
| | rowdy young weekenders who build bonfires and yell all night, warbling Rocky Mountain High offkey & then sleep all morning, when others get up to start hiking. I suspect they plan to climb Mt. Washington in their SUV's. Anyway, the atmosphere at JJ was much more family-oriented, and tents-only sites just what we were looking for. Does anyone know who the origin of the name, Jigger Johnson?When we were there, I left a treasured book behind by mistake, on a picnic bench at the campsite, I believe. I went to jigger johnson campground from the ages of 10-17. I love it up there. I used to go with my buddies family. I am in

Douglas Brook flows through this neighborhood, and if the weather is pleasant,
you can go for a hike along the Boles Trail. This is such a scenic campground. Paddling on Saco River is so much fun, and if you're here you can take a hike along the Rob Brook Trail. White Lake State Park is worth stopping at if you're at Jigger Johnson Campground 1, and there
is a nice hiking trail nearby called the Bear Mountain Trail. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Jigger Johnson Campground 1, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Through the winter the highs are ordinarily in the 20's, and winter nights
come with lows in the 0's to Jigger Johnson Campground 1. Yep, outdoors amusing stuff to do are in fact abundant here at Jigger Johnson Campground 1. Glide down the rapids of Sawyer River in a kayak, and nearby you stumble on the Champney Falls Trail which is a nice hiking
trail. If you want a nice time in the great outdoors just come on up to the White Mountains. Lakes? Sure, Church Ponds is in the vicinity, and whitewater paddling is perfect on Swift River. This campground is always a bliss. The smiling folks of Wonalancet like to hang out close
by, and a spree here wouldn’t be complete without a journey to close by Crawford Notch State Park. Yep, outdoors enjoyable stuff truly is abundant here in the White Mountains. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Attitash Bear Peak is in close proximity to Jigger Johnson Campground
1, and on a good day you can take a hike along the Oliverian Brook Trail. An average amount of precipitation falls at Jigger Johnson Campground 1; through August this area sees the most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month.
