Fort McPherson Campground, Nebraska   Fort McPherson Campground was established in 1964. It is located on 850 acres of ranch property that was originally part of the Fort McPherson Military Reservation. The Fort was in operation from 1863 to 1881 and played a major role in protecting wagon trains, settlers and the railroad as the tracks moved west. Buffalo Bill Cody began his career as a scout here. Many famous soldiers, including Custer and Sherman were here at various times. Grand Duke Alexis 's famous buffalo hunt involved many from the fort. The campground is in a rural setting,     quiet and away from the noise of the interstate. There is convenient access from I-80 exit 190. It is a shady camp with tentsites and RV pull-throughs. Electricity, sewer and water are available. Free WiFi provided. There are hiking areas on the property or along country roads. The adjacent canal system or nearby lakes provide fishing with license available (even online) from Nebraska game and parks. We also have 3 air-conditioned ''camping cabins'' starting at $25. Towels and Sheets provided. The season for cabins and RV and tent sites is April 15th - Oct. 15th. We have space for family reunions and even outdoor weddings. The Ranch House Lodge is available year round with advance notice. It is usually fully booked during hunting seasons. House is completely furnished with kitchen, 2 baths and 3   bedrooms with 8 twin beds. For the period of the summertime months at Fort McPherson Campground temperatures are ordinarily in the 80's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 60's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 30's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Fort McPherson Campground sink into the 0's.
