AMENITIES:
Tap Water

This is the place that I have spent the last 15 years camping.  It is a very beautiful place that is quite primitive but close to Maggie valley and Cherokee. TAKE YOUR OWN WOOD! The wood that is sometimes provided does not burn long. Says Robert Perry

North Carolina has a lot of outdoors activities. At last, camping time is here again, and Balsam Mountain Campground in North Carolina is a really good place to spend some time. This campground
is one of the nice spots to camp here in the Great Smoky Mountains.
If natural beauty is what you want, this primitive campground is what you have a need for. There are water hookups; unsurprisingly it can be difficult to get to a primitive campground like Balsam Mountain Campground, but it's worth the effort. The delightful local attractions and such a delightful variety of outdoors recreation are sure to keep you coming back repeatedly. The 3 feet of great snow that fall annually at the close by ski mountain Cataloochee is glorious. Cataloochee has 4 good ski lifts, a good 740-foot drop,

and 10 slopes. With 25% of the slopes being challenging, and 75% of the 25 acres of skiing territory being green and blue; there are good slopes for any ability at Cataloochee.
