| | Ross Creek Campground is a very popular old favorite campground among the people in Heron. Coeur d'Alene National Forest is a perfect site to stop at. Now, you may feel that's plenty but there's even more fun stuff to do here in the Cabinet Mountains. You can run the rapids of Kootenai River next to Ross Creek Campground; you can go for a hike on the Berray Mountain Trail.

The Ross Creek Pack Trail is a splendid hiking trail in close proximity to Ross Creek Campground, and during your journey here you'll meet some people from Heron for sure. There's plenty of outdoors recreation available nearby such as whitewater paddling, fishing, swimming, and hiking, so getting bored is not something that is likely to happen. There is a fine hiking trail near Ross Creek Campground called the Grouse Lake Trail, and from Ross Creek Campground you get a fine view of Mount Vernon.
