The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Ponderosa Campground dip into the 10's. You are close to Chinaman Cove while you're here at Ponderosa Campground; visiting Helena National Forest is a wonderful thing to do. Don't forget to take a good little spree to Magpie Creek;   on a pleasant day you can take a hike along the Vigilante National Recreation Trail. The Hanging Valley National Recreation Trail is a wonderful hiking trail close to Ponderosa Campground, and you could always explore Cooper Gulch.
