Alta Campground is generally a rather dry spot; the wettest month of the year is generally May, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months is July. This campground is a great location to stop by. Take a hike on the Coal Ridge Trail, and if you've had enough of Alta Campground, Painted Rocks Lake is nearby. If the weather is tremendous here at Alta Campground, you can go for a hike along the Castle Rock Trail; there's some flowing water nearby, Hughes Creek is a stream you can have a look at during your stay. At Alta Campground cool stuff to do is bountiful, and it's one of those spots where everything is great. If you go for the outdoors, you won’t be let down; there's hiking, fishing, swimming, and whitewater paddling, so running out of amusing stuff to do won’t happen. | |

sink down into the 40's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Alta Campground.
