Two Island Lake Campground, Minnesota   I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf Says jkf2004@aol.com Going for a hike on the Long Portage     is always a glorious adventure, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Cascade River. For the duration of the months of summer here at Two Island Lake Campground, high temperatures frequently reach the 70's while night lows are commonly in the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 10's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Two Island Lake Campground sink into the-10's. This campground is so delightful. A trip to Two Island Lake Campground wouldn’t be complete without a spree to close by Judge C.R. Magney State Park, and get your heart beating on the great whitewater of Devil Track River. There is a great hiking trail in the neighborhood of Two Island Lake Campground called the North Shore State Trail. Don't leave Two Island Lake Campground without   dropping by Cascade River State Park, and close by you stumble on the Stairway Portage which is a good hiking trail. There are glorious places to discover along the South Lake Portage, and you can run the rapids of Cascade River. An average amount of rainfall falls at Two Island Lake Campground; August is when you get the most rain here; the driest of the months is February.
