Mabel Lake Campground, Minnesota   This is one of our favorite Minnesota campgrounds and we stay here several times each summer. We love that it is right on a lake and that many of the sites have their own little beach. The campground is quiet and the sitesÿ are screened from one another for privacy. I hate to even post a review out of the fear that our favorite camping secret will become everyone's camping favorite. It is close enough to Longvilleÿ and Remer that you can run in for ice and supplies as needed. One small hint that I will pass on is that you might want to stop in Longville     or Hackensack to buy yourÿ firewood as the campground does not have any for sale.Mabel Lake campground is not on a campsite reservation system but we have never had a problem finding a site here. We discovered this campground as a result of finding one of the more popular Leech Lake campgrounds full. Once we found Mabel Lake, we never bothered with the other campgrounds in the area again. Mabel Lake is rustic so those seeking hook-ups, flush toilets, and running water best move on to the more crowded campgrounds on Leech Lake and leave us to our own peaceful lakeside spot... Says The Clarks A trip to Chippewa National Forest when you're here at Mabel Lake Campground is a glorious idea, and going for a hike along the Sugar Lake Trail System will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood. Take a hike on the North   Country Trail, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Mud Lake Trail System. If you're a golfer then a great nearby course is Ridgewood Golf Course & Country Club; you can have a nice hiking adventure along the Johnson Lake Trail System. If you want a nice time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Mabel Lake Campground. A visit to Mabel Lake Campground wouldn’t be complete without a visit to close by Schoolcraft State Park, and if you're here you will meet lots of folks from close by Longville. Around Mabel Lake Campground you don’t get a lot of rainfall; most of the rain falls during June, and the driest of the months is February. A lot of fun is at this campground. Don't forget to take a good little spree to Swift River, and if the weather is great, you can go for a hike along the South Highbanks Trail System. All through the summertime months highs here at Mabel Lake Campground reach the 80's with overnight lows in the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 10's with temperatures at Mabel Lake Campground dipping down into the-10's through winter nights.
