Mabel Lake Campground, Minnesota Custom Search   This is one of our favorite Minnesota campgrounds and we stay here several times each summer. We love that it is right on a lake and that many of the sites have their own little beach. The campground is quiet and the sitesÿ are screened from one another for privacy. I hate to even post a review out of the fear that our favorite camping secret will become everyone's camping favorite. It is close enough to Longvilleÿ and Remer that you can run in for ice and supplies as needed. One small hint that I will pass on is that you might want to stop in Longville     or Hackensack to buy yourÿ firewood as the campground does not have any for sale.Mabel Lake campground is not on a campsite reservation system but we have never had a problem finding a site here. We discovered this campground as a result of finding one of the more popular Leech Lake campgrounds full. Once we found Mabel Lake, we never bothered with the other campgrounds in the area again. Mabel Lake is rustic so those seeking hook-ups, flush toilets, and running water best move on to the more crowded campgrounds on Leech Lake and leave us to our own peaceful lakeside spot... Says The Clarks Why not take a refreshing hike along the Johnson Lake Trail System, and as expected, everybody loves Chippewa National Forest. At Mabel Lake Campground through the summer highs are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the   50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 10's with temperatures at Mabel Lake Campground dipping down into the-10's through winter nights. Some nearby water includes Swift River. Around Mabel Lake Campground you don’t get a lot of rainfall; June is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month is February. This campground is so splendid. Hiking along the South Highbanks Trail System is delightful fun, and you'll meet a lot of people from Longville here. Mabel Lake is a nearby lake that you could take a look at; the North Country Trail offers hiking at its best. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this location. A spree to Schoolcraft State Park revitalizes the soul; hiking is a popular thing to do around Mabel Lake Campground; Mud Lake Trail System is a glorious local trail. Mabel Lake Campground is right by the Sugar Lake Trail System, and golf can be played at Ridgewood Golf Course & Country Club.
