My husband Tim & I spent a week on Hermit Island 2 years ago. This was my 1st time and his 6th. It is a magical place where the stars abound in the sky while the sound of the ocean soothes the soul. Sitting on the rocks at the beach on a star-filled night is as close to heaven as one can |
get. There is no place like it. Walking along the roads and paths at night, coming upon deer and owls. Wow, it is truly an experience. We love it. Says Kesta
Hermit Island is easily my favorite place to vacation. I've been going there every year for 11 years now, and
| I love it even more everytime I go. I have found that the people I have met there have become life-long friends, and they all share the same love for Hermit Island. It's near impossible to try to explain why Hermit Island is so great. It's just one of those places that you fall in love with, and never want to leave. There's something magical about that island. I highly recommend camping there to anyone. Says Jen
A splendid place to go to next to Hermit Island Campground is Gooseberry Island Ledge, and a brilliant beach close by is Hunnewell Beach. | |

This campground is a beautiful place to stop at. You're sure to encounter some cheerful people from Phippsburg here, and you can run the rapids of Cathance River. Hermit Island Campground is a wet site that gets a large amount of precipitation; during November this area sees the
most rain while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. The slopes of Lost Valley are so inviting noone can resist, and at Hermit Island Campground you can make out Haskell Hill. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun things near Hermit Island Campground. Looking
for something close to Hermit Island Campground? Big Pond is in the neighborhood; in the event that you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Sheepscot River. Hermit Island Campground is in the vicinity of Popham Beach State Park which is a
beautiful place, and Wallace Head is around here and always pleasant to stop at. If you're looking for a beach right next door to Hermit Island Campground, we recommend Head Beach, and Royal River is a great whitewater spot nearby. This is such a fun place for a campground.
Reid State Park is a good spot to stretch your legs a bit; while you're here, you could stop at Sprague River. For the duration of the months of summer at Hermit Island Campground highs are mostly in the 70's while night lows are regularly in the 50's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 30's with temperatures at Hermit Island Campground dipping down into the 10's throughout winter nights.

Sand Dune Beach on Hermit Island. - says: Peter
Hermit Island is easily the best vacation your family will ever make. There are seven white sand beaches, which are not crowded at all. You could easily find that you have the entire beach to yourself. Among the other options, there are hiking trails, biking, fishing, boating, a full marina, swimming, and much more. The best part is that at night, when camping near the coast of the island, you fall asleep to the soft lull of the waves and the gentle summer breeze. It is truly one of Maine's hidden gems, as you will find no other place like it. There is something magical about it, that will draw you back year after year. My love for this place will never die out. For more information, check out the official travel guide for Hermit Island at www.hermitisland.weebly.com
