Buck Ridge Campground, Illinois Custom Search   Buck Ridge Campground was closed in 2007 and I'm very upset to see that happen. The area is depressed and could really benefit from this wonderful campground. You can still hike in but we will miss our trips and the wonderful memories that awaited us. I'm truly upset about this loss. The park is gorgeous. I hope to see an outpouring of requests to reopen this national treasure. Why not stop by Bethlehem Bay also while you're here, and Buck Ridge Campground is not far at all from Creal Springs. While you're here at Buck Ridge Campground you can take a hike along the River to River Trail, and if you come at the right time of year, Little Grassy Creek offers some glorious whitewater. Shawnee National Forest is a good spot to explore, and whitewater   paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Bear Branch. Among the things you can do next to Buck Ridge Campground are hiking, whitewater paddling, fishing, and swimming, so you won’t get bored. This is such a beautiful campground. Beaver Creek is a stream that you may encounter during your stay, and get your heart pumping on the fine whitewater of Lusk Creek. You need to get out of the house, and Buck Ridge Campground in Illinois is a good spot to go.
