| | Buck Ridge Campground was closed in 2007 and I'm very upset to see that happen. The area is depressed and could really benefit from this wonderful campground. You can still hike in but we will miss our trips and the wonderful memories that awaited us. I'm truly upset about this loss. The park is gorgeous. I hope to see an outpouring of requests to reopen this national treasure. Says Suzanne Jacobs-Fabian

it's not far at all. This campground is so great. If you're going to Buck Ridge Campground from Creal Springs, you won't be the only one; Beaver Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth checking out. Buck Ridge Campground is frequently visited by the folks from
| Creal Springs. During the summer at Buck Ridge Campground highs are ordinarily in the 80's. Summer night lows plunge down to the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 30's with temperatures at Buck Ridge Campground dipping down into the 10's all through winter nights. You've been indoors for too much time, and Buck Ridge Campground, Illinois is a wonderful place for getting out. enough, you can also go whitewater paddling, hiking, fishing, and swimming, so there's absolutely no way to get bored. Illinois is a wonderful outdoors state. Paddling on Little Grassy Creek is so much fun, and if the weather is good, you can go for a hike along the River to
River Trail. But wait, there's more to do in the neighborhood of Buck Ridge Campground. If you come at the right time of year, Lusk Creek offers some great whitewater. Buck Ridge Campground gets much water; March is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month of
the year is January. Don't forget to take a look at Bethlehem Bay if you're here at Buck Ridge Campground, and drift down the rapids of Bear Branch in a kayak.
