Be careful coming to the Bitterroot Range, you might not ever wanna return home again. Taking a little tour to nearby Idlewilde Bay is a great idea; if the weather is good, you can go for a hike along the Independence Creek National Recreation Trail. Among the things you can do in the vicinity of Ward Campground are hiking, and whitewater paddling, so you won’t run out of things to do. A lot of fun is at this campground. Farragut State Park is worth checking out if you're at Ward Campground, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Coeur d'Alene River - Little North Fork. Take a hike on the Green Mountain Trail, and hey, Bayview Creek is a fine local stream. That right there is heaps of cool stuff already but it goes on, the Bitterroot Range has it all. If you come at the right time of year, Pack River offers some perfect whitewater; The Old Maids Clearing is a splendid place to check out.
