The Garden Creek Trail is a nice hiking trail close to Upper Jackass Flat Campground; there's whitewater on Salmon River - Middle Fork for all you adrenaline people. Upper Jackass Flat Campground gets a typical amount of yearly rainfall; the month with most of the     snow is January, and July is the month with the least moisture. Going for a hike on the Bear Trap Saddle Trail is always a pleasant adventure, and nearby you come across Jackass Gulch which is a tremendous location to visit. All the fine local attractions in the neighborhood and such a fine variety of outdoors recreation are magnificent reasons to come. There's a lot of outdoors recreation available in the neighborhood such as hiking, and whitewater paddling, so you won’t run out of things to do. This campground is so tremendous. There are some good whitewater spots on Loon Creek, and if the weather is great, you can go for a hike along the Shellrock Ridge Trail. There's absolutely no way to run out of entertaining stuff to do next to Upper Jackass Flat Campground; it is a fine escape from everyday life. This   location, the Salmon River Mountains, has so much outdoors amusing stuff. Range Creek is a stream that you may bump into while here, and a pleasant journey to Jackass Flat is a fine way to spend an afternoon. So much enjoyable stuff to do in the Salmon River Mountains, not sufficient time. There are good sites to discover along the Milk Creek Trail; a visit to Challis National Forest is a pleasant idea. This is such a tremendous campground. Near Upper Jackass Flat Campground you find the Big Baldy Ridge Trail which is a great hiking trail, and you can run the rapids of Rapid River. Throughout the days of summer at Upper Jackass Flat Campground temperatures are frequently in the 70's, and all through the night it cools down to the 30's. All through the wintertime the highs are ordinarily in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Upper Jackass Flat Campground are in the 0's. Idaho is a fine place for outdoors folks.
