  near State Land Campground; on a good day you can take a hike along the Shellrock Ridge Trail. You definitely have to love the Salmon River Mountains. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Soldier Mountain. There is a glorious hiking trail close to State Land Campground called the Big Baldy Ridge Trail, and why not a little side trip to Little Creek.
