Be careful coming to the Wallowa Mountains, you might not ever wanna return back home again. There are nice places to explore along the Old Boise Trail; if you come at the right time of year, Little Salmon River offers some good whitewater.

This is a good campground. A trip to Ponderosa State Park when you're here at State Campground Recreation Site
is a great idea. And that's not all you can do here at State Campground Recreation Site. Good hiking is available along the Rapid River Trail, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Hazard Creek.
It is very dry here at State Campground
Recreation Site typically; most of the rain falls through May while July is generally the driest month. Outdoors recreation is bountiful, some of the fun stuff you can do is whitewater paddling, and hiking, so it's completely out of the question to get bored.
