Visit Shep Creek since you're here at Rock Island Campground, and on a great day you can take a hike along the Cliff Creek Trail. So many local attractions and all the outdoors recreation are wonderful reasons to come. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Rock Island Campground with night lows in the 30's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Rock Island Campground.
While you're here at Rock
    Island Campground you can take a hike along the Bear Trap Saddle Trail, and you can run the rapids of Camas Creek. Around Rock Island Campground you don’t get a lot of precipitation; December is the wettest month with most snow, and July is when it's the driest.
You definitely
must go for the Salmon River Mountains. Salmon National Forest is a tremendous location to visit on a beautiful day. That right there is loads already, but it continues; Rock Island Campground has it all. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Loon Creek, and popping by Challis National Forest is a nice thing to do. This is such a great campground. There's whitewater on Salmon River - Middle Fork for all you adrenaline junkies, and if the weather is good, you can go for a hike along the Goat Creek Trail.

Ok, time to get out and breathe some fresh air, time's here for camping, and Rock Island Campground in Idaho is a magnificent spot to go. The Salmon River Mountains scenery is always pretty. Outdoors recreation is plentiful, some of the cool stuff you can do is swimming, fishing, hiking, and whitewater paddling, so it's not possible to get bored.
You could also explore Norton Lake while you're here at Rock Island Campground; it's nearby, and you can have a splendid hiking adventure along the Shellrock Ridge Trail.
