Poverty Flat Campground gets a normal amount of rain; January is the month that gets the most snow, and July is the month with the least moisture.

| Hiking is a popular thing to do around Poverty Flat Campground; Blackmare Cutoff Trail is a wonderful local trail; a spree to Ponderosa State Park when you're here is never a bad idea. The surroundings of this campground have so many things to offer. Good hiking is available along the Cougar Ridge Trail; it's a great idea to have a look at Blackmare Creek.

Going to Payette National Forest in close proximity to Poverty Flat Campground is a wonderful thing to do, and a great spot for whitewater paddling is Salmon River - East Fork of South Fork.
During the summertime at Poverty Flat Campground temperatures are mostly in the 70's,
and through the night it cools down to the 30's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's, and nighttime lows at Poverty Flat Campground all through the winter generally drop into the 0's. Some activities here at Poverty Flat Campground are hiking, and whitewater paddling,
so it's completely out of the question to get bored.
A lot of folks stay here when they come to take a look at Payette National Forest. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Eagle Rock Trail, and get your heart beating on the magnificent whitewater of Salmon River - South Fork.
