Going for a hike on the Lily Lake Trail is always a pleasant adventure, and Grand Mesa National Forest is both perfect and pretty. Not much rainfall falls here at Ward Lake Campground; the month with most of the rain is October, and the driest month is January.
Ward Lake Campground is in the neighborhood of Vega State Park which is a pretty location, and if you come at the right time of year, Kannah Creek |
offers some nice whitewater. At Alexander Lake Dam close to Ward Lake Campground there are some attention-grabbing things to see; everybody close by loves skiing at Powderhorn. Scores of people camp here to explore nearby Grand Mesa National Forest.
