  It is very dried out here at Old Timbers Campground commonly; August is when you get the most rain here, and June is the month with the least moisture. A journey to Old Timbers Campground wouldn’t be complete without a tour to nearby San Juan National Forest; Dunsworth Park is a striking place any time of year. This is such a beautiful campground. You can take a little trip to Vallecito Dam while you're here at Old Timbers Campground; hiking is a popular thing to
    do around Old Timbers Campground; Devil Mountain Trail is a great local trail. And if that's not enough there's loads more cool things to do in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. There's whitewater on Piedra River for all you adrenaline junkies; a journey to Navajo Lake State Park
is a great idea.
There's plenty of outdoors recreation available close at hand such as swimming, hiking, fishing, and whitewater paddling, so you won’t get bored. So many local attractions and the nearby outdoors recreation are guaranteed to keep you coming back time and again.
Loads of folks stay at Old Timbers Campground in order to be close to San Juan National Forest. There's some flowing water close by, Wilson Creek is a stream you can visit while you're here, and splendid skiing awaits you at Purgatory.

This is such a good campground. Lakes are such serene places, why not pop by Vallecito Reservoir near Old Timbers Campground; lots of folks from Bayfield come here.
Now, you may believe that's plenty but there's even more cool stuff to do here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. There are some nice whitewater spots on Canyon Creek, and fine hiking is available along the Pine-Piedra Stock Driveway. At Old Timbers Campground exciting stuff to do is plentiful, and many people like to come here to get away.
The warmest time of the year at Old Timbers Campground arrives with high temperatures in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 40's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 30's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Old Timbers Campground. Old Timbers Campground is a tremendous camp ground to use as a base while enjoying the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. All the outdoors fun things next to Old Timbers Campground will keep you coming back again and again. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Vallecito Creek, and Gut Canyon is a brilliant place to spend some time.
