Whitewater paddling is great on Kannah Creek, and Grand Mesa National Forest is a nice place to stretch your legs a bit. Coming to this campground is always a great idea. Island Lake Dam is a pretty place right next door to Little Bear Campground, and do take a hike on the Cottonwood Lakes Foot Trail.
