| | This campground is a pretty place to go to. The snow is fine at Steamboat. Life's too short to enjoy all the amusing stuff in the Park Range. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Encampment River, and when you're here it's always fun to go to Pearl Lake State Park. High temperatures at Helena Campground during the months of summer are in the 70's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. Do stop by Big Creek Lakes in close proximity to Helena Campground, it's a delightful lake, and Helena Campground is right by the Fryingpan Trail. Not much rainfall falls here at Helena Campground; April is the month that gets the most rain; January is the month with the least
moisture. There are some magnificent whitewater spots on North Platte River, and Forrester Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth checking out. This is such a fun place for a campground. On a great day at Helena Campground you can take a hike along the Big
Creek Trail, and Routt National Forest is both glorious and scenic. Colorado has lots of outdoors activities. The Park Range scenery is always pretty. There's more to do right next door to Helena Campground other than just hanging out such as hiking, whitewater paddling, fishing, and swimming, so running out of entertaining stuff to do won’t happen.
