Lake Dam has magnificent water scenery. All year is a magnificent time in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains if you fancy the outdoors. Float down the rapids of Animas River in a kayak; you can go for a hike on the Circle Trail. During the warm days of summer highs here at Bear
| Creek Campground get into the 70's, and the overnight is slightly cooler of course, regularly in the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Bear Creek Campground. Going for a hike on the Whitehead Trail is always a brilliant adventure, and don't leave without stopping by San Juan National Forest. It's not possible to run out of fun stuff to do in the vicinity of Bear Creek Campground; campgrounds like these are nice. Looking for some flowing water? Try Pole Creek; Lost Lake is a nearby lake that you could explore. There are great spots to discover along the Deer Park Trail, and at Bear Creek Campground you always meet someone from Durango. Bear Creek Campground is pretty dried up typically;
