This campground is a picturesque location to visit. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Elk River, and going for a hike along the Fish Creek Falls Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood.
You could also go to Lost Lake while you're here at Base Campground; it's nearby; a trip to Stagecoach State Park is a fine idea.

here in the Park Range. There are some great whitewater spots on Rock Creek, and on a great day you can take a hike along the Newcomb Creek Trail. All through the warm months, highs usually are in the 80's at Base Campground. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 40's. All
through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's while Base Campground overnight low temperatures through the wintertime are in the-10's. While you're here at Base Campground you can take a hike along the Buffalo Park Trail, and a great location like Routt National Forest
is too good to leave out.
It is very arid here at Base Campground frequently; the month of December is the wettest with most of the snow, and August is when it's the driest. The splendid variety of local attractions and such a splendid variety of outdoors recreation are great causes to come.
