Near Upper Ballard Campground you come across the Potrero Canyon Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail, and you can spot Figueroa Mountain from Upper Ballard Campground. As if Upper Ballard Campground wasn't enough, you can also go swimming, hiking, whitewater paddling, and fishing, so perhaps you want to stay for a while.

Man, is there loads of entertaining stuff to do right next door to Upper Ballard Campground. Don't leave Upper Ballard Campground without first going for a hike along the Gato Trail, and locations like
Sawmill Basin are great to go to. As long as you go for the outdoors you will go for California. There's great hiking along the Manzana Trail; why not pop by close by Ballard Creek while you're here at Upper Ballard Campground.
This is such a good campground. El Capitan State
Beach is worth visiting if you're at Upper Ballard Campground, and if you come at the right time of year, Cuyama River offers some magnificent whitewater. Upper Ballard Campground is prized by residents of Santa Ynez. You'll in fact wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the
fun things in the Sierra Madre. Don't leave Upper Ballard Campground without dropping by Refugio State Beach, and there are pleasant spots to discover along the Hurricane Deck Trail.
Upper Ballard Campground is pretty waterless generally; February is the month that gets the most rain while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
